Dr. Elizabeth Fogarty has been an assistant professor of literacy in the Teacher Education Department at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota since 2020.
Liz was a Lecturer in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Minnesota from 2016-2020. She served as the coordinator of the Foundations of Reading course and Reading Licensure program at the University. Dr. Fogarty taught in the College of Education at East Carolina University from 2006-2016. While at ECU, she served in several capacities, including AIG Program Coordinator, and as the Associate Chair of the Elementary Education and Middle Grades Education Department. She taught both undergraduate elementary education as well as gifted education at the graduate level. In 2006, she was recognized by the National Association for Gifted Children with the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award. She was recognized in 2010 by the same organization as an early leader in the field of gifted education. In 2013, she was recognized for teaching excellence at East Carolina University as a Board of Governors Distinguished Professor runner up, and was awarded the East Carolina Alumni Association Outstanding Teaching Award. She earned a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota before completing her Master of Science in Gifted Education and Talent Development at Minnesota State University, Mankato and her PhD in Educational Psychology/Gifted Education and a focus in Literacy at the University of Connecticut. Liz lives in Chaska, MN with her husband, Adam, their two children, and their two dogs. She enjoys running, reading, swimming, and being with her family. She served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Association for the Gifted and Talented. |
