Primary grades (K-3) teachers - come explore how aspects of the Montessori method such as independent work time, individualized lessons, learning centers, and hands-on materials can be modified to help you create rigor in the differentiation you provide gifted learners in your regular or pull-out classroom. Discuss how classroom learning environments can be modified to create peaceful environments which increase children’s sustained attention, motivation, and self-discipline. Finally, jump in and try out the methods and materials discussed, and receive practical materials to bring back to your classroom.

Language Arts Activities
Vowel Tree
Add consonants on either side of the vowels to craft CVC words. Silent Letters Sorting Sort silent letters into patterns. Nouns Sort Sort nouns into categories: person, place, thing. Alphabetical Order Students use cards to write as many words as they can using the words on the cards. Editing Sentences Students rewrite sentences correctly. One to Many Exercises Students use cards to write as many words as they can using the words on the cards. Verb Tenses - Advanced Students sort cards into verb tenses including infinitive, present, past, present participle, and past participle.
